On July 4th, 1776 , the Declaration of Independence was adopted in the United States. I could do a blog on what I’m doing this year. Or, I could do fun facts you may not have known. Let’s do that instead. It has fun IN THE NAME. It’s guaranteed.
1- Independence Day wasn’t a recognized holiday until 1941
2-Uncle Sam became a U.S. Adopted Icon in 1961
3-The National Anthem (The Star Spangled Banner) is set to the tune of an English drinking song (The Anacreon in Heaven)
4-150 million hot dogs will be consumed on this 4th. I guess Roseanne will be out of the country today.
5-The first 4th of July party held at the White house was in 1801.
6-Benjamin Franklin wanted the Turkey to be the national animal.
7-John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, two of the signers and compatriots of the Declaration of Independence died on the same day. July 4th, 1826 , 50 years after the signing.
Alright everyone, go out, get drunk, stuff your faces, and watch pretty lights. That’s what this holiday is all about anyway, right? Right?
