The Summer Is Upon Us

I know what you’re thinking. “This blog sucks.” You’re also thinking “Summer has been here.” Well, not for me it hasn’t. When most people think of summer, they think of vacations, cook-outs, bikinis, flip-flops, and swimming. Well, I’m a pasty Irish kid, so I think of over-hyped movies that don’t look half bad.
You’d think I would have learned my lesson before, but I’m actually excited to see this Will Smith flick. On the surface, it’s another superhero movie. But the twist with this one is that he’s a superhero who doesn’t care about the Regular Joes. He doesn’t conform to the “I’ve got awesome abilities, time to use them for good” Superhero Mantra. Hancock sees himself as just an outsider with great abilities, and he owes society nothing. It looks great, and it’s going to be interesting to see how Hancock ends up using his powers.
Have you turned on a T.V. recently? If so, you’ve probably seen the massive whoring of the new Batman movie. Normally, I hate the thought of being bombarded with advertisements for something, but this Batman has gotten me hooked. Ledger’s portrayal of Joker is creepy, neurotic, and psychotic. Joker makes that leap from “pedosmile” to “It“. I’m really looking forward to overpaying at the box office to sit through this one.
